2022 Property Taxes

2022 Property Tax Notices have been mailed!  Please watch your post box in the coming week to be sure you have received it. If you haven't, please contact the Killam Town Office at 780-385-3977 and another copy will be sent to you.  All Property Taxes, both Residential and Commercial,  are due Tuesday, August 2, 2022.

If you feel your property tax assessment is too high, you may appeal it.  The Town Office has the 2022 Assessment Roll available for the public to view.  This allows you to compare the value of your property to another you think may be of similar value.  If you feel your property is indeed appraised higher than similar properties, we advise that you contact our Assessor and speak with him about your concerns.  Assessor for the Town of Killam is Larry James of Wainwright Assessment Group Inc., 780-842-5002.

After speaking to the Assessor, and you still feel you need to appeal your assessment, the Town Office has an Appeal Form that you will be required to complete and submit back to the Town Office before Monday, August 8, 2022.  An appeal fee is also due at the same time.  For Residetial and Farmland properties the fee is $50, and Commercial and Non-Residential properties are $650.  Following the appeal review, the fees will be reimbursed if the decision is found in your favour.

The Killam Town Office is open Monday - Friday, from 8:30 am -4:00 pm (OPEN through Lunch).  Cheques, cash or debit cards are accepted. E-transfers can be sent to: bills@town.killam.ab.ca

** Due to High Service Fees, payment of Property Taxes via Credit Card is not accepted.
